Meet the team

Read on and put some faces to the names of the people you're likely to meet or deal with when you book one of our tours. We're a small, diverse team from Australia, the UK and, of course, Thailand. We've a shared love of cycling and all things Thai – and a passion for sharing this with others.

Micaela Hobbs,
International Sales Director

“I am a self confessed lover of cycling and passionate about travelling and experiencing new cultures. I have ridden my bike extensively in the UK and France, and have enjoyed the challenge of taking part in many tours, races and events over the last few years.

“Having travelled all over Thailand, soaked up what is on offer here and fallen for the country and its people, my aim is to share my two passions and give other cyclists the opportunities that I have been privileged to enjoy.

“I am a keen photographer and love to capture all those memorable moments of my travels to my camera, so be warned! I come from a nursing background so I also bring valuable first aid skills with me. Above all my philosophy is to have fun and to live for the moment! Just enjoy!”

“I am a girl of few words who travelled all the way from Bangkok to join in the adventures with her friends Marcus and Micaela in Chiang Mai. I am the marketing chick in charge of setting up and managing the entire marketing program for Crouching Tiger.

“I also hope to bring joy and fun to the tours together with the other members of the Crouching Tiger team and offer unforgettable experiences to our clients in Thailand. I hope you like our website and I look forward to seeing you here soon.”

MARCUS

Marcus

Marcus Maguire,
General Manager/Tour Director

“Getting the travel bug at an early age my dad would 'drag me all over the countryside' covering most of the Australian east coast. The passion for travel and discovering new places led me to Europe. Living away from my home land for the past 10 years working mainly in London and Paris, I have had the opportunity to work and holiday in numerous countries in and around Europe, meeting many interesting people and making so many great friends.

“Thailand is my home now. I’m here today because of one unforgettable holiday. I discovered a country that has an extraordinary ambience. A land of such diverse beauty; from the tropical south to the arid plains of the east, and the awesome mountains to the north. It’s the kind of place you can never visit just one time. I’m here today welcoming old friends and new, discover a place that I am so passionate about.

“I became cycling mad during my teens, after going to watch a friend racing in the Victorian Road Championships outside Melbourne. Soon after, I'd bought my own road bike and was riding the roads around my home, primarily through the Dandenong Ranges. This enthusiasm led me to start racing with Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club on the road and on the velodrome. My cycling adventures continued in Europe, especially France where I had the opportunity to take part in numerous cyclosportive races. Huge events, long distances, often through the Alps, with up to 7,500 competitors. What an experience!

“Finding myself living in Paris away from my cycling buddies, and keen to meet and ride with friends, I started, and organized, a branch of my then home club in Paris. This soon took off with weekly Saturday rides of up to 180km; groups of motivated road riders of various nationalities, keen to get out on the bike and discover the French countryside. Sunday training sessions consisted of a spin around Longchamps (a Mecca for cyclists) always followed by coffee and plans of weekends away. And of course many close friendships were made and I received much support and encouragement to take this organisation one big step further and create Crouching Tiger Cycling Tours.

“I love to get the most out of life. It is our experiences which make us who we are today. Think positive, believe in yourself, take risks, 'oser' (meaning to dare: my favourite word in French), make friends and ride your bike! Make life an adventure.”
